Has anyone ever come up with (source code for) a program that
initializes the W83627HF chip correctly, without having to go to
the hardware monitor section of the BIOS setup before booting?

All I've found are a bit of assembler and C code for the S2466
board,

http://www2.lm-sensors.nu/~lm78/readticket.cgi?ticket=867
http://www2.lm-sensors.nu/~lm78/readticket.cgi?ticket=861

The code almost works on a S2462 board, but it appears that
something is missing. Booting via the BIOS setup and then
executing that code works fine, so it's not doing something
it shouldn't. It also all makes sense according the Winbond
data sheet for a W83627THF available on Windbond's web page.

But alas, if booted without going through the BIOS setup a
couple of strange things happen. One is that trying to
configure the temperature alarm limits on the W83782D chip locks
the whole board up tighter than a drum. Another is that a warm
reboot fails (many beeps from the BIOS), and the only cure is a
cold reboot (pressing the reset switch). The data sheet on the
W83627THF says it is unwriteable without a hardware reset, and
apparently that is what is happening. Except that whatever the
BIOS setup does leaves it perfectly happy.

I'm running a 2.6.7 Linux kernel and using the lm_sensors 2.8.7
programs and my sensors.conf is based on the one that Tyan has
available on their web sight.
