Does anyone know, if everything else is equal about two Rambus modules
in a pair, but they are from different manufacturers, will they work?
I had read a very old posting (before 2000)that alluded to the fact
they may not, but didn't know if this still holds true.

As a general answer, maybe. It SHOULD work, and they'll both run at
the lowest common denominator speed (ie a PC800 module and a PC1066
module together will both run at the PC800 speed). However, there are
occasionally funny problems that can crop up when you have unmatched
pairs of memory. As a general rule it's best to run with matched
memory modules, but if you've already got one module and need to buy
another, this sometimes isn't an option. In this case, the only real
option is to give it a shot.
One piece of advice though, get the module from a dealer with a decent
return/exhange policy and be sure to run Memtest86 on the new module
for a good 8-12 hours after you install it. If Memtest86 picks up any
memory errors, return the new modules for something different.
