|
|
I bought the Sony CRX175A2 about a year ago.
Till two months back I no problems with burning Cd's.
Now recently, in the past 2 months I'm unable to use the Writer.
I use 700 MB cd-r's.
When I use Nero it says Medium Speed Error.
When I use Clone CD it says No sense Information or something like that.
My configuration includes:
P4 1.4
Win Me
128 Mb RDRAM
Geforce 4 MX440
80 Gb WD
I use Clone Cd, Nero 5.5.9.0.
Please Help as my annual project is coming up and I need to burn cd's.
Thank You |

There are NGs where you're more likely to get an answer to your problem,
e.g. comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.cd-rom but you'll have to be a bit more
precise on what went wrong how.... e.g. what CD-Rs you've tried... or do
you have a folder on your C: drive named C-Dilla?

It sound really dumb, but I have the exact same model and same software
versions.
I have some trouble with Sony 700MB discs. They're labeled 48x, but the
burner only goes to 12x. Mine also will get write errors at 24x after the
first zone (you can find out exactly where it is, but I don't feel like
doing that).
Anyways, I have troubles with the Sony discs as sometimes it says Medium
Speed Error. If I put in a different disc or if I eject it and insert it,
it might work.
The Medium Speed Error doesn't actually mean there is a problem with the
disc. It's really just that the drive didn't get the disc up to speed and
couldn't begin writing.
Somehow, I don't think this has helped much.
Perhaps you have a friend with a CD-RW drive as well? If your annual
project isn't too large, then you can zip it or otherwise compress it (or
make it into a Nero NRG file with the Image Writer burner option Nero has,
or otherwise make it into an ISO file or BIN/CUE thing [Nero doesn't do
this, can only burn them] and then compress that image file so you don't
have to do anything with setting up the project in Nero) and upload it to a
free web server, after you encrypt the compressed file (of course then
burn it there.
That is, if you cant use any other CD-R discs and the CD-RWs dont work at
10x or even 4x.
And, you don't feel like going to a store buying a drive, installing it, and
returning it siting some ridiculous lie and asking for your money instead of
a replacement.... |

I could get a replacement drive but the main problem is that I need my
drive to start writing Cd-R's again.
None of the CD-R's I use seem to be working.
I have tried Sony, Amkette and Mercury branbs.
These are quite popular in my country and accepted by most CD-RW's
I however am able to write CD-RW.
The problem seems to be with Cd-R's only.
Help. |

Very very odd.
Since you do have a deadline on this thing, I would write it to CD-RW discs
for now, and once the deadline has passed, get the drive replaced.
In the interim, check if your friend's have any CD-RW drives (nowadays you
aren't alone , and bring over your "master CD-RW" and copy it to as many
CD-Rs as you desire, or 1 if you just want it to be on a CD-R disc instead
of CD-RW. |
