I've got an ECS P6STP-FN board, which uses the SiS630 chipset and a SiS 301
video out chip.
I've been playing around with making a multimedia center and/or PVR out of
this system, but have had a few problems with the TV out.
First and foremost, I can't seem to find Windows 2K drivers that allow the
activation of the TV-out functionality. I've checked the CD that came with
the board, but have only been able to find drivers for the actual VGA
adapter without the additional TV-out stuff. Does anyone know where to find
them? The drivers on ecsusa.com (in the support section) are for video only
without the TV support.
Secondly, I have gotten the TV out functionality to work under Linux using
the "sis" X driver combined with "sisctrl". Unfortunately, I can't seem to
get a halfway decent picture on the TV. I understand the differences
between TV and monitor refresh rates and resolution, but figured there would
be some way to get a decent TV picture since the SiS 301 video chip is
designed for such a task.
Anyone have ideas? Without a good TV-out picture, there's no reason to go
through the trouble of setting up MythTV or something along those lines.
Thanks!
Pete
