Hi, I'm trying to install a Seagate ST318432LW onto an Adaptec 29160N
in a Poweredge 2400 (using an U320/160 compliant orange and white
cable with an active terminator). The problem I'm having is that the
computer fails to boot whenever the card is installed. The problem
occurs with or without the drive attached. What the boot-up does is
to perform its self-scan and after the other SCSI equipment (two HDDs
on a backplane and one CD on the mainboard) has all been booted it
goes to my 29160N. It prompts for the SCSI Select Utility then it
just dies. As an added wrinkle however, the card booted up the very
first time just fine and even read the new Seagate. The Poweredge is
a single processor P3 and the whole system has 2GB of Dell-spec ECC
unbuffered RAM. Any advice on this issue would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this
*** thing.

Two pieces of advise:
1. Read past posts before posting a new question. This issue has come up
previously.
2. Try a different PCI slot. Try all of them if necessary.
