Hi.
I'm just setting up a system with a Tyan 2885 - ( Thunder K8W).
Great board but poor support from Tyan:

1-Drivers on CD are outdated and there's neither TMS. program nor IDE
Busmaster drivers on it . so I went to Tyan website to download.
Several autoextract files on the web are -it seems- corrupt. They don't
unpack.
( i-e-: Tyan Monitor System and the pack for AMD chipset )
Had to go to AMD website and download one after other the drivers for 8111
and 8131 chipset.

2- My board was an early one with a BIOs ver 1.01, so I flashed the Bios
1.02
Nice surprise : the Hardware settings for temp. and Voltage went crazy.
I have now 64ºC for motherboard and both CPUs ( There's only one CPU
installed ! )
fans rppm are absurd too and the 5V and 12V lines displays 0 V!
So, I reflashed with bios 1.01, without luck - settings are still wrong.
Any clues ?

3- If you are using a SINGLE CPU you can use a GOOD ATX power supply, don't
need a EPS really.
Just plug the 20pin ATX connector to the lower part of the 24pin board
conn. and the 4 pin +12V plug
to the lower side of the 8 pin +12V board connector - As bot plugs are keyed
you can't fit them wrong.

I have, besides the board with a 146 Opteron, 2x512 Corsair mem. chips, a
Radeon 9800 AGP card,
3 SCSI U320 drives and a DVD recorder. After several hours the PSU ( Zalman
400W ) wasn't even hot, only moderately warm
with the fan at very low speed.
Now, I can't check the voltages on screen due to the BIOS issue, but using a
digital tester I've got 3.4V, 5.1V and
11.9V on the 3.3V, 5V. and 12V lines. The system runs fine on WIN XP after
fixing the problem wih the drivers instal.

Cheers.

Arturo.
