I am hoping really really hard that this is not a burn error...

I play my music files from a CD I burned, everything is fine. But I
get to the 'last' music files on the CD (data, btw), and the computer
slows down like all hell - it practially freezes. If I eject the CD,
then it all goes back to normal. I've also tried listening through a
CD player that supports that format, but I have the same problem - the
first few seconds play, then it 'freezes'. I can't copy the file,
anything. This is also the case with WMVs and MPGs I've made with
that particular CD-ROM (not on this particular computer - another
one). The file sizes seem to be ok, so they don't look like they
burned wrong. I would think a bad burn would just give me an error.

I know this isn't all that much info to go on, but does anyone have
any ideas what's up? My biggest concern is that I won't be able to
salvage the files!!!

Any help or insight would be appreciated!! Thanks.

Did you burn audio and then data? Could you give step by step how you
burned the cd? What software did you use?

Hey, thanks for the response. I burned just data, I think it was CD
at once, closed the sessions if I remember correctly, and I used NTI
CD Maker Pro (older version) with Romeo file format....It was also
burned on a Win 98 machine. The Win 98 PC is not at my house, so I'm
hoping it will read ok on that machine when I get access to that
machine in a few weeks; because, I verified it on the Win 98 machine,
after the burn, (properties of the CD vs. properties of the items I
burned) and it matched up ok...

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks a lot!!

Still in a fog on what you are doing. Did you burn mp3's as data? Is
the cd burned on Win98 machine? Are there two Win98 systems? Why are
you concerned whether the cd that's burned on Win98 not "play" on
another Win98? What Windows system are you "playing" the cd and have
problems? What's the version of Windows Media Player that's having
problem playing WMV and MPG?

(Did you use Romeo because filenames are longer than 64?)
