I have a M841LR (SiS740 chipset - like K7SOM) that refuses to function with
a new 120 GB HD.
The hard drive was installed in every possible configuration, master/slave,
master only, and though BIOS listed 120 GB HD, Windows 98 SE nor Linux
would load / install nor read / write to drive.

When installed in an eMachines Athlon box, the hard drive performed
correctly. After partitioning, formatting, testing on other machine, I
tried to re-install it in the M841LR machine - no boot.

Any suggestions / solutions?
[] BIOS upgrade?
[] new mainboard?
[] PCI IDE controller?
