I bought a k7vta3 motherboard / cpu combo at Fry's a few
months ago, and it worked great. No problems, and runs like
a bat out of hell compared to my previously nice dual 650MHz pentium 3
workstation.
So, pushing my luck, I bought another k7vta3 at Fry's.
This one is DOA. Not even any beeps on the speaker. Sigh.
I guess I start swapping components until I figure out what's wrong.
Might even be a short to the case, who knows.
Not really looking for any sympathy or advice, just venting :-)

I've bought several of the Fry's combos with the K7VTA mbs and noticed |
that the most of the ver 8 boards (Fry's has both ver 6 and ver 8) do
not beep at all, so if you have a ver 8 board, don't count on the
beeps during post to tell you anything. I also got one that had the
jumpers set for 166 FSB which might not work for you.
Good Luck!
