Hi,
I decided to copy some of my CD's to use in the car so I don't
scratch or damage the original which I leave in the house.
However, the copied CD's jump in the car's CD player, (the originals are
fine) is there anything I can do?
Cheers

Re-record them taking greater care over the ripping process and write them
at the optimum (not the fastest) speed suited to the combination of media
and writer. Use only good quality media from the list of products
recommended by the manufacturer of the writer. Remember that the CD system
was never designed to cope with the poorer definition of the signal; burned
onto CDR and the reading ability of most CD players is marginal when faced
with CDR copies. Cheap and nasty mechanisms used in car players often have
even more problems than domestic players. However, given appropriate care in
the disc production process it can work successfully.
A good place to start would be a dedicated audio writing application such as
EAC or Fuerio (or if you have a Plextor writer - Plextools).

Wow, many thanks for your prompt reply & useful advice/.
I think your right about the players, I've got the standard one supplied
in the car, but a good quality at home where there's no problem playing
them.
I'll try a dedicated audio recorder & better quality disc's, as the
one's I've bought are fine for other things like photo's etc.
Thanks again
Paul

well, do these cdr's jump in your hifi-cdplayer as well? if so, you
should check the following points on the list:
1. are there any problems during the ripping process? what software do
you use? i've made best experiences with this free software
http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ ripping cdda only in 1-2x speed.
2. try different media! don't choose cheap discount wares! i.e. verbatim
or tdk media worked well on all my hifi-equipment. no-name stuff did not.
3. check the manual of your hifi-soundsystem! most cd-player and
cd-changers older than 2 years are not able to read cd-r media.
4. don't record your discs in the highest speed possible. even if the
label on a cdr media tells you that 52x speed can be used to record
data, it's not sure, that any cd-player is able to read such a media
correctly. mostly even reading the toc fails and no music will be played
at all.
5. take some of errorfree copies and originals with you and test them on
any new hifi-soundsystem you intend to buy! don't relay on colorfull
adverts! thrust your eyes and ears only :-).
good luck!

jens |
