My Memorex dvd+rw/+r drive worked but kept having problems, then
finally wouldn't spin up a disc. blew some air in there and the foam
disk came out that I believe holds the "coaster top" of the cd firmly
centered. (It was pushed into the very back and came out the side with
the air.) I can take it apart, I have worked on stuff like porbables
before, but... I wanted some recommendations for glue, hints, etc... I
am sure this has happened to someone before.
any suggestions besides take it apart and take a look? Is this the
right group to ask this?

I searched google and groups, with different terms and found no one
with the same experience.
thanks, Craig |

I fixed it.
foam pad didn't go anywhere, I am not sure where it came from.
re-assembled drive (after carefully cleaning, especially optic with
brush/air) and it works fine. I wonder where the foam disc/pad came
from??.
