After winxp start we put the cd in cdrom. We get the details about the cd content in the explorer window. Then we change the cd in the cdrom but still getting the same cd content. Even after refresh or several times taking out & reinserting, we get the same cd content. This happens even if i change to another cdrom on my system. My system is already upgraded to SP1. Kindly guide me how to get rid of this problem.

I have LITEON DVD-ROM LTD163 and PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D!

Anyone can help?

A client of mine is having the same problem, and I have yet to find a viable solution. Here's some info to help clarify.
- Using Windows XP Professional SP1
- Tried fixing the update mode in regedit from 1 to 0.
- Tried repairing the autoplay settings using microsoft's autofix.
- Disabled autoplay using gpedit.msc
- He has used this computer for years without this problem. It practically developed overnight.

I have discovered a workaround for the problem. Eject the CD-ROM using the right-click option on the drive icon. View the contents of the drive with the drawer open, or with no cd inside (should come up blank). Insert the new CD in the drive and the contents will refresh as normal. This is more of a stopgap measure than an actual solution.
I suspect this problem is a new piece of spyware so poorly engineered that it damages vital system components, as those seem to be all the rage these days. However, I have used several methods of spyware detection and found nothing that would cause something this severe.
I am most likely going to format this computer in the near future to determine if this is a hardware failure or a software conflict, though since the aforementioned workaround seems to fix things, I suspect it is the latter.
Any other solutions to this problem that anyone can suggest would be greatly appreciated, as I truly hate the post-format recovery process.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that one must eject using the system command, otherwise it doesn't refresh.
