ey, b4 i start talkin i would just like to thank anyone in advance for
helping me with this problem...... Well my pc specs are AMD 64 3200+,
Gigabyte K8NNXP, 2*512MB of kington PC3200,Seagate 120GB SATA,Leadtek
GeForce FX 5950. i would like to no y i can't get an overclock over 60MHz
without my computer crashing and me having to change the settings back to
stock.i have an euxuast system on my pc fan and an 80mm pumpin out of case
air onto the cpu fan and my temps are 32-34Degrees celcius idle and 41 under
pressure these temps are way below stock even when @ 2.05 it still runs same
temps. My thory is that the fsb of my Ram and my CPU are the same so when i
try and overclock my cpu it overclocks my ram as well. i was aiming for a
cpu speed of 2.4-2.6GHz from the stock setting of 2.0. my current settings
are 10.0 x 205MHz. Benchmarks:
3dMark 2003 --------- 5270
Aqua Mark --------- 40,095

i am told that these scores are very good. but i want to aim for 6000+ in
3dMark 2003
and 45,000+ in aqua Mark.

my Video card is overclocked to get these scores at pretty much its
limit--------Stock 475/950
o/C'ed 518/1020. Thanks Again. and also the new nvidia 52.16 drivers
decreased my score so i am going to go back to 46.55 or similer. Thanks

You could start by fitting some known decent ram, Kingston (kington I
presume?) ram doesnt always overclock well. Try fitting corsair or OCZ and
go for PC3500, why did you skimp on the ram when you paid £££'s (or $$$'s)
for the rest of your kit?

I get over 5300 in 3DMark03 with a cheap $85.00 2500+ overclocked to 3200+
(2.2Ghz ) Speeds. I'm glad I didnt spend the gobs of extra money for a 0
performance gain. My specs are; Asus A7N8X Deluxe, 2 sticks 512MB Corsair
XMS 3500 , Seagate 120GB SATA , ATI Radeon 9700 Pro running @ 333/333.
Temps under full load hit 40-41C. Using Thermalright SLK900A /W 92mm
Panaflow 48CFM Fan for cpu cooling. I thought Athlon64's were supposed to
be alot faster even in 32 bit apps? I guess I was wrong. And wasn't the GFX
5950 supposed to be faster than even a 9800 Pro ?
To answer your question , did you ever think that maybe you don;t have a
good overclocking chip? Early versions of new cores seldom overclock nearly
as well as later revisions. In a year when a AMD64 3200+ is reasonably
affordable for most they will by that time most certainly overclock better
than yours. Early adopters ususally get the *** end of the stick to have
the latest and greatest like yourself. Try upping your core voltage slightly
to gain stability at higher speeds.

No they do but all benchmarking programs have no support for new 64 bit
processing. and to tell u the truth BENCHMARKS are synthetic lumps of
***.
I have read and experianced so many times when benchmarkes are ***
false
when compared to real life performance. I kinda but not really go by the
FPS
in games i find that to b a real world test. AMD Athlon 64 smokes all
Athlon's and the 3.2GHz expessialy in gaming. However the Athlon beats me
and 3.2GHz in business benchmarks. shows how much the k7 core had goin for
it huh. Anyways bak to the point is that the RAM is the reason y i cannot
overclock as i now have a friend that purhased a new AMD 64 3200+ like me
with same mobo but Corsair DDR 500 amnd he can get his runnin @ 2.6GHz
stable. Also FX5950's are better than Radeon 9800Pro's but in my opinion I
think the Radeon 9800XT which is meant to b the FX5950's pretti much on
par.
but when it comes to fan speed and the need for silence the Leadtek FX5950
cooling system is *** for Noise its as load as.

no kidding!!! i'm running pretty much the same system, and i'm getting
5822 in 2k3, 42,000 in aquamark, and 18,146 in 3dmark2001se. he should
be getting better scores with that rig. my bet is his nvidia card. a
9800xt would prob rock with that system.

Do you overclock your video card at all? If yes , what settings do you use?

i overclock whatever i can... (i'd overclock my modem if there was a
way...LOL). most things i leave it at stock speed, but i kick it up to
about 375/355 (or something like that) with the stock cooler, but i'm
thinking about this hsf
