Dear all,
I finally got my new 19" CRT monitor it a
Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930 sb http://tinyurl.com/7ucs.
I am the author of the previous post titled "Best 19" Monitor".
The monitor is great it has sharp text, and vivid colour, though
the aesthetics could be more desirable (and don't mention the
size and weight)!
I have one question though, do large 19" monitor make a humming
noise, it's fairly quiet humming noise, but is it something I should
be concerned about?
I have isolated the noise down to the Monitor and its not anything else;
the base unit it self is very silent, it has lots of Zalman components in it
so it is definitely v quiet.
Just need reassurance that it "normal" or somein.
Any advice will be appreciated,

I have a 19" Envision monitor, it used to hum every now and then, try
tweaking refresh rates (acceptable ones of course) to see if it goes away.

Thanks Alex,
I have tired tweaking the refresh rates, it is well within its
acceptable range. It seems to make the noise through out
all refresh rates and resolutions. Dunno may its supposed
to humm ;)

fwiw, i've used a lot of monitors over the years and have only seen (heard)
a couple that hummed noticibly, and that was at "problem" frequencies. my
current (semi-expensive) monitor, a hitachi cm772, is silent from where i
sit. if i get up and put my ear against the side i can hear something
faint. |

Nigel, I have built and used many systems over the years, and in my
recollection none of the monitors I've used (including a number of different
19" jobs) have had any noticeable sounds coming from them. Call Mits tech
support; if they say it shouldn't make any noise then return it for a new
one.

I've got the same model, about a year old, it makes no noise that I
can hear even when I put my ear to it. As suggested contact support
and ask them, it may not cause you problems in the short term, but
it can't be doing the electronics any good.
It's a great monitor apart from the looks/size, I love mine.

Same here on iiyama Vision Master Pro 454, slight hum with my ear against
it, nothing audible normally.
I recall big monitors being a bit buzzy years ago but I'd contact your
supllier about it asap.
