Hi, calling Richard Hopkins???.... or anybody else who might have an answer!!!! retard

Would welcome some advice concerning above HDD with Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI.
This new build PC (a friends) is unable to detect either of 2 identical SATA HDD's, the BIOS is 14 (I'm aware of BIOS 15, but doesn't show any improved compatibility for HDD's). The system is built as follows:

FP-IN9 MB
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz
4Gb GeIL Ultra Low Latency memory DDR2 PC6400 800Mhz 4-4-4-12
Nvidia 8800 GT
PSU Coolermaster 620 W
2 x WD Caviar SE 16 400GB HDD WD4000AAKS

You may recall the SATA problem with my own AA8-XE MB, which with your guidance was eventually traced to a HDD firmware issue.

To me, it would appear that this could be a similair issue, however, any thoughts in respect of jumper settings (WD advises no jumper required for SATA II installation), BIOS settings or anything else I may have overlooked.

I have checked the installation and rebuilt and rewired the barebones system to ensure no errors from standard installation as per manual.
BIOS is accessable and reports "none" in SATA 3 and 4 (Not connected), SATA 1 and 2 (HDD's installed) are simply blank.

Searching the net (including this site) identifies a number of WD HDD's having issues with Abit motherboards..... maybe this is just coincedence???

Look forward to receiving an early response.

Many thanks! smile
