Word documents not opening up.....

I had a bunch of word, excel, and pdf documents backed up on a CD-Rom
from a few years ago. I have Office XP Proffessional & Vista Premium on
my computer. I haven't looked at these disks since getting this new
computer and version of Office so don't know if thats the reason for
it.

I'm getting this error message:

The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions:
1. check the file permissions for the document.
2. Use the File Open dialoge box to locate the .doc.

I was able to open up the first 3 -4 word documents but after that I'm
getting that error message on them all :confused:

If there is anybody out there who could help I'd appreciate it greatly.
