I just purchased a 965P-DS3 v3.3 and a stock 6420 2.13 chip.

I am planning on OC'ing soon, but not during initial install. Can I go
ahead and install the stock Intel chip, fan and heatsink as Intel instructs,
and then remove the heatsink and fan at a later date, and then use Arctic
Silver 5 to reapply the heatsink and a different cooler/fan (like Zalman) at
a later date? Or am I better off use Artic Silver now with the stock
heatsink and the Intel fan and replace the cooler/fan later. Also - please
excuse me if I have the lingo/process mixed up. I haven't done an OC for
some time and may be mis-stating something.

Also - what are the preferred fan/cooler combinations for a mid-size box -
around the $30 - $50 range? And should I put any other fans in the box as
well?

Also - what should be the minimum size power supply that I should have in
the box? It currently has a 300.

That a lot of info........
The stock Cooler has a sticky pad at the bottom....scrape it off..clean the
residue off with nail polish remover and apply a good thermal paste...Arctic
Silver 5 is good.
Or build it proper in the first place and use your choice of Heatsink/Fan
right off the bat...which is what I should have done instead of working in
cramped spot to remove old and install new.
..Thermalright CPU coolers are good some require a little more work to bolt
on others use the Socket 775 retention system.The Ultra 120 has execellent
reviews...the SI-128 bolts on easily.The Choice of fan is your so you can go
for power ...silence or both.
The number of fans you run in your case really depends upon how many can
your case support??? how much noise can you put up with??
I use an Antec P160 with 2 120mm case fans with an OC'd E6420
(8x400FSB),N650SLI-DS4 mobo and one of those lovely SI-128 with a 120mm
Vantec Stealth fan and that keeps my CPU at about 42degrees under load and
pretty quiet to boot.
But that is my preference.........opinions will vary
As to the PSU...there are other devices that use power...HD..DVD..Video
Cards...etc etc .
All of these devices require a certain amount to just run and a wee bit more
to start up.
Nowadays I would say a Good Power Supply from a reputable brand name should
have at least 500w.....but its also important to check the amps and voltage
on the individual lines to make sure they exceed the draw of the devices
using those lines.
Do a Google for Power Supply Calculator and you will find webpages where you
punch in your config and they will calculate what size you need,Remember to
allow for future expansion.Its the +12v line that important
