Hi All,

I've been thinking of buying a new laptop and don't want to spend too
much really. All it has to do is mainly just sit there and burn some
DVD's, yahoo chat and just things that don't require much CPU or
memory power.

However, there is one thing it MUST do and that's be able to have an
S-Video to scart lead from the laptop to my widescreen TV so that I
can play Divx movies directly from the laptop.

I have decided that for the money the Toshiba L30 10Y fits my needs
more or less perfectly!! BUT....I can find no information anywhere on
whether it has S-Video OUT??? I looked at an older satltelite L30
model on a toshiba website and it definately did NOT have S-Video out.

The one I am looking at must be much more updated as it has Windows
Vista (UGH!) installed. The older one had Windows XP and only 2 USB
ports, VGA out etc.

Anyone have any knowledge of this Laptop and S-Video out? Here's a
direct link to the one I have in mind to buy if it meets what I have
said above.

Sorry for the long link. Any help or advise would be much appreciated
please. Many Thanks.

Andrew :-)

Minor I/O features can vary from country to country for a given model of
machine. Particularly true for something like video where standards
vary regionally. Best to 'eyeball' the machine before you buy.

You might also check the HP Pavillions in the zv6000 family. I bought a
zv6130us for about the same price as that Toshiba (converted to US$)
that has S-Video for NTSC. (Also has wireless-G, Firewire, four USBs, a
slot for several camera memory cards and a digital TV link that I've not
explored. Strictly a 'region 1' machine so it wouldn't work with the
discs in the U.K. (thanks to Hollywood's stupid regionalization scheme.)

HTH ...pj
