I read some where that Epson has been changing chip codes in an effort
to defeat use of CIS &/or refillable cartridges in the 1400. Does
anyone have any current information to share regarding this
information (or rumor)??

Additionally, is there some one on the forum who is actually using a
CIS or refillable cartridge with auto reset chips? If so, does your
auto reset chip actually work as it should?

Replies will be very much appreciated.

That is a great idea. The eprom in the cart should reprogram itself
every day and match the firmware in the printer and in that way a
relabelrs cart will always fail.

Yes, I use the refillable cartridges and the chip resetter on my RX500 and they
both work fine.

No news about the new style cartridges. As I mentioned in earlier posts, this
whole
thing seems totally illegal, and we as consumers should not put up with it.

I have heard the rumour but I suspect that is all it is....a rumour.
If it were true it would be at best marginally legal and probably totally so in
most countries.

Trying to figure why this guy defends the printer manufacturers so vehemently.

Either he or his relatives work for one of these companies, he sells their
official
cartridges, or he owns a lot of stock in one of them.

I have the Aussie version called the 1410.
Just ordered 3 CISS from 3 different Chinese manufacturers.
They arrive in 5-10 working days.

Let you know how they go.
US$15.00 each with no ink- but US$20.00 each to ship to Australia.

He is also the resident "kook" here who likes to contradict & arouse
the "sane" users of this forum. It seems like every community always
has one.

Please do report on your results, and which
product/distributor/manufacturer works best. This is exactly the type
of information that can benefit many of the readers of this group.

In fact, If you are so inclined, you might be able to write an article
for paid publication either on line or in a magazine. The interest in
CIS's are increasing as the prices drop on them and they become better
designed.

He's not answering, so I can assume he fits one of these descriptions.
