|
|
Hi, I'm looking for a operating system restore CD for a Gateway 310X
system.
I've contacted Gateway and I quote their support ...
"Thank you for using Gateway's Online E-mail Support. If you need the
restore discs for your system, unfortunately, Gateway updates the
Restoration CD frequently. We no longer have the CD needed for your
system. These CD's are included with the purchase of a new system and
are not sold separately."
Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of the restore CD? The OS was XP
home. |

Thanks Jupiter, I'll keep my eyes open. Most on Ebay are for laptops and I
was unable to locate one for my model. I've tried to use a restore DVD for
a Gateway 702GE (also XP Home) and it acted like it was going to work but on
initial startup after install, it claims that the password is incorrect and
reboots. Then loops.

Bets of luck on this, I had a client's system, 3 months out of warranty with |
a hard drive failure. Getting the drive was a piece of cake, but after over
a month of back and forth over the issue, I advised the client to just buy a
new O/S disk. For an additional 2 months I communicated with GW over the
issue. They always promised to get the disk to me but never delivered. An
additional month later I was contacted by them and they apologized for their
failures to get me the disk and who ever I spoke to said he would look into
it and yet again send me the disk. To date no disk has arrived.
Rather surprising since the system was part of an open governmental contract
that allowed federal employees to purchase the same system at the bulk
contract price. Usually such contract usually involve thousands of
identical systems, not as though it was some short production run.
As for the client, well at least I was politely dismissed from any future
work for them. |
