I just purchased the retail (academic) version of Office 2007 Pro, and I
can't get the tamper-proof box open. The ribbon at the top of the box got
torn off when I was trying to follow the picture directions of how to open
the box, and nothing else seems to want to open like the picture (on the
sticker) describes. Could anyone Please give me some ideas on how I can open
the box? I'd rather not destroy the whole box just to get it open. I do have
it pried open partially enough that I can reach the software but not the
printed material with the product key & owner's manual. I know this is an
incredibly dumb request. After you get thru laughing hysterically, any help
you could provide I would greatly appreciate!! smile
Thanks in advance!!

There's a piece of clear tape that is on the right side, like a CD case.
Once you remove that, then you can use the red tape to flip the case open.

Make sure you remove all the plastic stick on seals from the sides of the
package. They can be hard to see. Once they are removed the box will
almost open by itself. Just put a thin sharp object (metal fingernail file
or knife) in the opening where the tab was.

(The printed opening instructions are on one of the clear tabs you need to
remove.)

I had already done that. I removed the clear tape which has the picture
diagram of how to open the the case by pulling the red tape. The red tape
didn't flip open the case; it just tore off at the base, and nothing else
seems to be able to pry it open either. (Thanks for not laughing at me!)
