Hello everyone i hope im in the right group i have a nvidia ge force mx440
graphics card running on xp windows and recently i am experioncing what
appear to be like red scanning bars apearing random on my desktop.

Once i do a refresh they clear but immediately come back .
Q. is my nvidia graphic card *** it self or is it some other windows xp
prob?

any assitance or comment welcome

Did you just recently installed any hardware on your pc?
Or maybe just opened it to cleanup?

Try to remove and reinsert the gfx card.
If that doesn't help, try to apply some contact-spray onto connector
of the mx440. Then plug it back in and check the result.

If that didn't solve the problem, then it's very likely that memory on
the mx440 has gone bad.

I had a old and still running ti4600 in one of my old computers start
doing the same thing I cleaned out the fan with compressed air and it
helped but after a wile it started again so I removed the fan and heat
sink and took fan off and cleaned it with Windex and cleaned the heat
sink and gpu and reinstalled with arctic silver 5 and it runs like a
champ now smile should last a lot longer now smile

excue my ignorance but wat is artic silver5 ill try anything if it'll fix
prob..

Thermal compound for CPU and it works for gpu to, you can find it at
almost any store that sells computer stuff

Frankly, the MX440 was *** from the design stage onward...

The bars are almost certainly a bad card.
