That is a GREAT deal on an incredible hard drive. I have 6 of them. 2
each in my Dimension 9200s running as 1.5Tb Raid 0.

The biggest advantage to the 750Gb is speed. It's almost as fast as a
10K drive for a lot less money and a lot more space.

I might pick up a couple more just to each my current space problems.

I wonder what it feels like to lose (in theory) 750gb of data?
Can't
feel very good.

That's why our Creator invented backups, Stew. You are taking
backups,
aren't you? :)

Not only removable backups, but I have redundancy of my boot drive
(RAID1, 2
x200gb). One of these days I'll also have an external hdd to throw the
entire image off upon as an extra measure.

My question was really sort of dumb as losing any important data is
painful,
no matter how small.

But in imagining nearly a terrabyte going south in a click of death or
otherwise..........I dunno, just seemed like maybe a marching band or
very
large announcement might be in order.

I need to get out more often. g

Stew

I've already mentioned that I don't backup up the big drives, but I am
faithful about backing up critical data. I use a program called
SyncBack that works very well. I even run it on my daughter's laptops
and they back up to the 'family server'. Added benefit --- Dad gets to
see what is on their machines at his leisure.

The one thing I don't backup is my boot drive. That's can easily be
rebuilt and as much as I mess with it, an 'every six month reinstall' is
well worth it.
