I'm playing Tomb Raider Anniv on a D2C system with an X1950XT. The lighting
effect is too intense and radical. Bright places look too bright and dark
places too dark. I had this issue when playing Prince of Persia Two Thrones
with an X1900GT and was told that because the game was optimized for nVidia
cards, Radeon cards couldn't handle lighting effects properly.
TRA is optimized for nVidia, too. My Q is, "Is there any way to reduce the
intensity of lighting effects using some kind of 3rd party tools?" |

I don't have issues with other games....currently only with TRA. So, I guess |

I take it you've taken all the steps you can on your own? Most games allow
a considerable number of tweaks in the graphics area. The first one that
comes to mind is adjustment of the gamma and, if necessary, some tweaking
of the monitor's brightness and contrast.

I'm not talking about a general level of brightness/darkness, of course. In
TRA, a light source makes nearby objects/areas *unrealistically* too bright.
For instance, a small fire place seems as bright as the burning sun in a
desert. I don't have the same problem with other games (oblivion, call of
duty, etc). |

Does TRA give you the option of turning off HDR?

No. Anyway, TRA isn't entertaining enough for me right now. So, I'll just
use my time playing Resident Evil 4. |
