How much power does a x1950 pro needs?

Hello newsgroup.

I plan to build a new PC for myself, I am about to get the following
components:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
Mobo with intel chipset
2 GB Ram (2x 1 GB)
Graphic card with x1950 pro chipset


Now, I heard some horror-stories about the power consumption of the
x1950 pro. How problematic is it? Which PSU should I get?

Will a 450 Watt PSU be enough?

And, does it drain much power, even when just use Windows? I will do
office work with that PC too, not only games. So it's important for me
that the card doesn't drain much electricity when using just 2d
applications.

About half way down the page. These guys actually measure the power
consumption of the cards by hooking up shunt resistors to the power
connector and probing the slot pins. The X1950 Pro draws 24 W idle, 36 W
peak in 2D, and 66 W peak in 3D; nothing to worry about. Some board vendors
even use passive coolers on it:

By contrast an X1900XT draws about 110 W. I ran it on an Antec 400 W without
problems. Your PSU should be fine for the relatively low-power X1950 Pro.

I'm using the same configuration & same display card, currently my PSU is
SPI 350 Watt no problem for switching it on for 24 hrs!
