for XP x64
AIW 9600
I've got the latest CCC but have found no references for the associated MMC.
Is it available? |

If you are talking about the Radeon "All-In-Wonder" 9600 video card
(boxed version) :
There is a lot more things wrong with this card - than just 'Pairing
It With The Wrong Processor" !!!
The PWS transistor - for the TV-Decoder (over heats).
[Causing the PWS transistor (for the TV-Decoder) to become 'dis-
lodged' from the video card. - and causing the Video / TV Decoder to
fail.]
If you 'CATCH' this problem (while it is still under WARRANTY) - you
might get a 'Revised' Replacement.
If not (like I was) - then you are SOL . 8<(
I "Will Never Buy An ATI 'Piece Of Cr*p (Made In China)' Video Card" -
Ever Again !!!
In fact, I think that I will never buy an ATI video card - Ever
Again !!!

Thanks for sharing.
Since I've never had any MMC that functions in any capacity under XP pro
x64,
and the card has functioned OK as a video card,
it is likely that your scenario has not happened as I have not been
exercizing that part of the circuit.
All of the MM extension circuitry has not been driven to perform since there
are no drivers for them under x64.
But thanks. I can put a honking heatsink on the "PWS" transistor.
....that is if I have the "wrong processor", whatever that may be.

That's fine.
I use one particular PC for Web access and keep the render farm separate.
I just posted to check if any of the cards claims ever came true.
Clearly they never have.
This is the 3rd AIW card I have purchased:
The 1st one worked OK but the OpSys died.
The 2nd one worked OK until the OpSys upgraded, so the card became dead.
I got the 9600 Radeon thinking it would do as advertised. It never did. It
works fine as a plain video card. It has some annoying quirks because it's
nearly impossible to get rid of the multimedia dlls unless you logged the
install. I did not. <oops>
I'm thinking the marketing division at ATI is more zealous than their
engineering quality policy.
They certainly do not follow what I would call a reasonable Quality program
for the major Operating system writer out there, bugs notwithstanding.
It should have worked and it probably does had I decided to write a driver
for it.
Sorry, no time for that.
So even though I paid for what was advertised and didn't get it, it's my
fault for not "enabling" the "features" by pulling out my C++ to activate
the cards extensions.
Silly me.
I guess I should have taken time away from building milspec portable
radiation detectors and Improvised Countermeasures Electronique boxes to
stop IEDs...
in order to make the TV on my PC work [sic].
uhh..huh.
Somehow I don't think that even a CPA could see that spreadsheet as a good
balance.
Not what I would call a sterling OOBE... ya think? My PC clients don't
think so either.
Guess they found "fluff" is more profitable <and less dangerous since it
stifles market competition and contributes to the dumb down.>

I retired my ATI AIW 9600 and replaced it with an ATI X1600 Pro in
December when I upgraded my mobo/CPU from an Athlon 64 to an Athlon 64 X2
with PCIe and no AGP slot. The 9600 did me a fine job for about 3 years,
multi-booting both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of WinXP and Vista, all
through the beta and for a month with Vista RTM.
But I never could watch TV on WinXP x64, even though ATI kept promising
"in the next release". And TV never worked in any version of Vista. But
the basic graphics functions were no problem. I never did get comfy with
CCC, and could not get MMC to work well at all in x64 or Vista.
Reading the ATI Help and Support web pages were the biggest problem.
