I've just removed an MSI TV@nywhere Master PCI TV tuner from my system. I
was sure to remove all software, drivers, etc. at the same time.

Now I've just installed a Sapphire Theatrix 550 Pro PCI TV tuner. When I run
the ATI installer for the drivers, it appears to do it's thing, asks to
reboot, and then when the installer is suppost to close down, it just sits
there. The same thing happens when I install the ATI GemStar Guide+
software. I've let the PC sit for at least an hour and the installer never
goes away. Task manager doesn't show any abnormal CPU usage.

Otherwise, the PC seems to be operating normally. I can still use the
computer while the installer is frozen. I have no problem with other
installers, such as the nVidia chipset installer, etc.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the ATI software, downloaded
multiple times, installed from different drives, swapped PCI slots around.
Still no joy.

Computer is a DFI LanParty UT nF4 Ultra-D with an Opteron 165 processor, 1
gig of memory, BFG nVidia 7600GT PCIe videocard and SoundBlaster Audigy 4
PCI card.

I'm really starting to think that it may be time to wipe this PC clean and
reinstall. I was hoping to avoid a reinstall for at least a few months so
Vista's bugs could be worked out further and I could find a decent scanner
that will work in Vista, and then just install Vista.

Any ideas why the ATI software is gagging at the end of the installation?

Before you do that, read the URLs in my sig.

I finally gave in... My XP installation was about a year old and due for a
killing. Gave me the chance to upgrade a bunch of apps. PC seems a lot
snappier overall, but I've wasted more than a day and it's still not set up
just how I like it.
