|

I've recently opened up my Epson 3200 and removed a layer of dust on the
underside of the glass; This is the first time I've done it in 3½ years.
The glass is a bit scratched and it seems I can have a new top posted to
me for around £31.
I use the scanner for prints and may continue to use it for occassional
negs and slides (but am hoping to buy a Coolscan V soon)
I was thinking that as it had a layer of dust on the underside of the
glass, it may also have a layer on other parts of the light path, and so
replacing the glass won't make it like new (optically).
Is there a way to test for dust??
Is there a way to clean other components??
For the best scanning should I be thinking of swapping this for a V750
or similar, or will it be good for another year or two with a new top?? |

The only really safe way to clean things is with compressed air (and if
there are optics that are voice coil focused (such as the lens in a CD
or DVD drive), you have to be careful with that).

Thats something I've never used. I must get some in and give it a try.
Thanks. |
