HP PhotoSmart 7760 with integrated media slots.
Won't print one of the colors, magenta if I remember correctly. I've
tried changing all the print cartridges, but no good. Since the heads
are integrated in the cartridge, don't know what else to check.
I've tried printing from both the PC and directly from the media slots
with the same results.
Printer test and calibration pages work fine, except for the missing
color.
Here's the embarrassing part. My 2 year old stuck a thin curtain rod
(for sheers) in the printer, I believe where the heads are located. I
checked it out, but couldn't see broken wires, damage, etc. Any idea
what else to check or what the problem might be?
I alread have a replacement, but it is a perfectly good printer
(except for the one little problem) that prints darn good photos.
It's the principle!
Any help? |

I found this Post and I did with with my HPpsc 1315v printer that
wasnt printing all the colors and to my surprise it really worked!!
Just takes a second or two !! It works on old cartridges also! Now
everytime I refill my cartridge I do it and no problem!! Saves me a
lot of money not having to buy new cartridges!
Hope it helps!
"Well, I just wanted to say that I resolved the problem. I contacted a
local printer repair place and they suggested (don't laugh) to take a
shop vac and gently vacuum out the ink cartridge. He said that many
times the ink dries up in these cartridges, even though I had 2 brand
new HP cartridges. It worked! I had to keep the suction on the
cartridge until the yellow ink appeared. I cleaned it off and put it
back in the printer and the error message went away after the
alignment. And the yellow now prints. thanks for all the suggestions.
I wasn't going to buy a new printer" |

If the cartridges aren't directly to blame, and in this case they don't
seem to since several are exhibiting the same problem, I would consider
carefully cleaning the contacts in the printer that contact the
cartridge contacts with some cotton swabs with some isopropyl alcohol on
them. Just rub gently and allow the alcohol to evaporate, and see if
that helps. Look carefully at the contacts for damage or deformities,
and try to correct anything that looks like it may have been stressed by
the curtain rod.
