I've decided to keep the PCI GeForce FX 5200 video card I got for Christmas.

I have 2 different motherboards (and CPUs) I can use:

#1> i440BX chipset w/ Slot 1 PIII 800 Coppermine CPU , 100 FSB, AGP 1x/2x,
- and has 3 DIMM slots (I have 384MB 100MHz RAM).

OR

#2> VIA Apollo PLE133 chipset w/ PIII 866 FCPGA CPU, 133 FSB, No AGP slot,
- but has only 2 DIMM slots (for a total of 256MB RAM (I have only 100MHz RAM
right now)).

OS = Win98SE on both

Which one would give the best performance in combination with the GeForce FX 5200 PCI?
(This would be with not-so-new games like:
Serious Sam, Half-Life, Jedi Knight, Iceland Dale, Morrowind, TigerWoods PGA, etc).

Thanks for your help!
Joe

I'd gess the latter, when you get 133 ram for it.

I like the BX chipset system. I have a Via Apollo133 chipset board that I
can't wait to replace, it does really poorly on benchmarks and doesn't
handle the CPU-memory interface very well. Also, it doesn't like nForce vid
cards, keeps giving me infinite loop problems, even though I've tried
several 4n1 drivers. With the same CPU on board it benchmarks significantly
slower than a BX board. Plus you already have the RAM for it.

My 2c

440BX, those Via chipsets are garbage.

You HAVE all the components maybe you should test them both and tell us?
