Is a motherboard/bios Battery reading of "4.08 Volts" normal, low,
high??
It does not fluctuate up or down, EVER either.
It reads this in BIOS screen and in various xp-based software.

Is that low or normal reading?
thanks

If it's a CR2032 (AFAIK, 99% are), it's a 3V battery. At 4.08V, I'd say
you're ok for a few years, at least. ;-)

It's not unusual for it to measure a higher voltage when new/good. Of
course, the best way to measure the actual voltage is with a multimeter.

My multimeter is so old it would need a cane if it had legs.

good to know my 2 yr old battery is good for more years than I'll use
it... good for the next owner, my floor ;-)

thanks

You're welcome. Yes, the shelf life, which is basically the same as
what is used for the BIOS chip, is 10 years.
