|
|
I have a problem with the M2N32 recognizing both drives when both are
installed.
I have a Maxtore PATA istalled on the IDE primary port as a master.
I have a Seagate SATA installed on SATA1.
Both drives are identically cloned.
I can boot from each drivewithout any problems when independently installed
or with both installed.
This is the problem with both installed.......
If I make the IDE drive the first boot drive with the SATA the second in the
BIOS HD boot sequence, the computer boots perfectly and shows that there is
both the IDE and SATA drives available and I can access either drive.
If I switch the BIOS HD boot sequence to make the SATA the first boot drive
and the IDE the second, the system boots fine from the SATA drive but the
IDE drive doesn't show up in My Computer and also device manager.
I really need the SATA as the boot drive with the IDE as the tag along
drive.
Anyone have any suggestions as to why the SATA/IDE boot sequence doesn't
allow the IDE drive to be seen?
Thanks, |

Go into drive manager and see if it's there. If it is, it may just
need to be mounted and given a drive letter. I've had XP not assign a
drive letter to what it considers a foreign drive.

Yes, Drive Manager showed that the disk was there but did not assign any
drive letters. System works just fine now after I assigned drived letters
to the IDE drive.
Thanks again for your suggestion!
