i picked up a old pcg-fr130 sony vaio off ebay and it works good except that the fan seems to run a lot, it's almost constantly pulsing on and off after boot up and while holding down a key like scrolling down a page it runs at full speed till you release the key, it's not really much more then annoying but i am sure it's also shortening battery run time too. i remember reading somewhere that it was a common problem on some models but i've not seen a fix discussed. it's running a fully patched fresh install of xp home, 384 meg of ram, and a fresh battery, i can't find any fan control in the control panel which i saw while surfing the sony site for answers

Not much you can do. You can see if a bios update does the trick, but
i wouldn't hold out hope.
