Symptom:
I have to wait at least a minute before pressing the "on"
button switches the PC on. Before the minute or so is up pressing the
button does nothing at all.
Asus K8V-MX defect, or is it a power source failure ?. No idea
how to troubleshoot this.

I would be looking at trying a new or at least different PSU.
