Hi all,

I have a GA-M61P-S3 motherboard and today when I went to boot up the power
led came on and the hard drive led came on and stayed on solid, no POST
beep, no splash screen. I tried a few things to no avail, then removed the
cover and moved the SATA cable to SATA 1 slot. The system booted OK, moved
the cable back to SATA 0 and now it has booted multiple times without a
hitch. The cable was connected securely before I moved it. The hard drive is
a WD Caviar WD1600AAJS 160GB. Not sure if this is something that could be a
concern or just an abnormality that I should ignore. Well if it happens
again I guess I won't be ignoring it, but does anyone have any advice or
similar experience?

Thanks
Greg.

I had similar problems with an Asrock board - test with HDtach for (many) deep negative spikes. If so replace the SATA cable and check it again..chances are the spikes are gone and HDtach shows a normal slightly rippled curve again.
