I'm considering the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 for a new build, but I'm a bit
confused by all the rhetoric on the various revisions.
On Newegg, I see two listings. One is for Rev. 1.3 at $100, and the second
doesn't say what revision but is $130.

When I go to the Gigabyte web site, revision numbers as high as 3.1 are
mentioned, along with 2.0, IIRC.

I'm planning to start with a C2D 6420, but I see where quad core CPU's are
coming from both AMD and Intel. Current AMD AM2 socket boards will support
AMD quad core to a point (as of current info). Will the GA-965P-DS3 support
coming Intel quad cores in all revisions, or is that the reason for the $30
price difference?

Differences in the various revisions:

-Slightly different (but driver compatible) audio chips
-Slightly different (but driver compatible) network chips
-Slightly different Vcore Power supplies

For Core 2 Duo, all of the boards are "ok" (I'm using 1.0 since last
September, and it's been flawless).

The sound chip in the later revisions is slightly better, but most people
won't hear the difference (and in my case I am using a Sound Blaster card
instead of the onboard sound anyway).

The LAN chip in the later boards is slightly better for gigabyte lan, but
again for 100Mbps land it doesn't matter.

For Core 2 Duo, all of the boards are ok, but for quad core chips, you
should get the revised power supply in the later revision levels.

Thanks for the rundown, Barry :)

The latest revisions also support a higher FSB.

If you go to the gigabyte site you can compare the versions directly.
