I am looking for a digital camera I can control through my own
software code (i.e. C/C++) with
fully manual control over focus, exposure time, zoom and resolution.
Any recommendations
on camera models within the consumer market ($1000 or less) with
consideration to open
source control software or SDK's would be very helpful.

Canon 30/5/1 etc can be controlled through the remote
socket. See the Remote Pro stuff from Breeze Systems ...
