A pal has just bought a new computer. On his old one he had a parallel port
(LPT1) to connect his Samsung printer to. His new computer has only USB
ports.

How do you connect the Samsung to the new computer?

Thanks

John

Easy, use a USB-parallel adaptor. Plenty about.

Go to newegg.com and enter the search terms "usb parallel adapter". I would
probaly go for maximum flexibility by getting a printer server to add to my
home network. However, there ar simple adapters for around $10.

Caution: Don't expect to hook up a scanner or all-in-one device this way. I
usually works for straightforward printer-only applications where the
printer drivers are part of the Wiondows XP or Vista OS.

If its got a spare PCI slot a parallel card will give a true
bi-directional parallel port, USB adapters can be a bit
temperamental.
But it's horses for courses, some USB adapters work fine.
