This may be a long post so please bare with me, Also Tony Hill may be
able to help. (as he usually knows his computers). Specs may not be
exact.

I am looking to upgrade / replace my computer, using prices / parts
from www.ncix.com. Not a plug for them, just that I can drive there
and pick them up.

My present system is an AMD 3000+ on an Asus motherboard, end of the
line for upgrades, EVGA 6800 video (agp), but it is going to be used
at a friends place.

I do not do a lot of gaming, and price is not important, although I am
frugal, (cheap), good bang for the buck, what is your opinion on my
next system ?

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 or 6600, what should I expect for a speed
increase from the 3K+ ?

Motherboard ? I have no idea, although it should support the quad
cores coming out and have basic sound. I just bought a WD 320 gig HD
(to replace 2 HD's) and will keep my WD raptor HD (10K) as a second.
Remember that my old parts are going into a second computer, to
replace a third, hand me downs.

Ram ? no idea, so many choices. One gig min. as that's what I
currently have with no problems, possible to go to 2 gig.

Video card ? EVGA 7600 ? 7800. I am using dual monitors, 19" LCD flat
screens.

Computer case / power supply ?

Anything I missed ?

TIA.
