Arctic Silver has issued new instructions for application of
AS5 for Intel dual and quad core CPUs. Who knew?
http://www.arcticsilver.com/ins_route_step2intelas5.html

"Put a very thin line in close proximity to the center of the
heatspreader as depicted in red, like the photo at left. Be
CAREFUL to apply the thermal compound in the CORRECT
DIRECTION."

What is not clear is how thick the line is supposed to be.

_____

'Unique shape' particles?

What about cleaning WATER SOLUBLE base thermal compound?
And why not two VERTICAL lines for quad core?

And if "Since the vast majority of the heat from the core travels directly
through the heat spreader, it is more important to have a good interface
directly above the actual CPU core than it is to have the heat spreader
covered with compound from corner to corner." then why have a large heat
spreader and a large heatsink interface?

And the list goes on.

I call it 'Fantasy V'.
