|
|
| I am trying to upgrade the RAM on my old 1100. It currently has a 128mb PC133 and mobo can support 512mb according to gateway. Tried a Wintec 512mb (2 separate times), then tried 2 x 256mb (Mushkin) with same results.....computer will not boot up at all. It acts the same way as when I tried booting without any RAM, so it must not be recognizing it at all. Tried going into the CMOS settings with the old 128 stick, but saw no manual settings there, only a display from the auto read of the installed RAM. No help from Gateway either since I didn't buy their expensive RAM. Any help would be appreciated! |

Have you tried Crucial.com for compatible memory (prices and availability)?
They usually can provide the necessary chips for reasonable prices.

I think you might need the low-density chips. They are more expensive
than the newer style memory chips.
Most any chip supplier will still offer the older type of memory
modules, Crucial, Kingston, as they allow you to search by computer
brand, and model…
