Just reinstalled my os (XP) and all software. I didn't connect to the net
until I had a firewall(filseclab), antivirus software (AVG free) and windows
defender in place, then I did all security updates really fast then
installed autopatcherxp and ran that. I was also behind a linksys router
with built in firewall and latest firmware while the updates took place. I
have just about every security patch going. I have turned off remote
assistance and set up an good password on the administrator account. Machine
seems nice and clean but...

While using IE7 yesterday, the web browsers kept going back a web page just
as if I had pressed the "back" button in the browser. It was happeneing a
lot- maybe 30 times in 5 minutes.

I had my doubts about the filseclab firewall so I removed it and replaced it
with the COMODO firewall. Is this any good?

I also removed the latest release of RSSbandit as it seemed really dodgy
too.

Things are OK today (30 mins use) but hacker could still be in bed. I was
wondering what people thought.

Any recommendations for checking if I am clean?

Regards

Pete
