Hope this is a good place to ask my questions. I have tried ASUS web site
and forum but have not had success in getting any information.

I have Matrix RAID on 2 hard disks (RAID 0 partition for OS and programs,
RAID 1 for data in several partitions). I want to remove RAID from the
machine and use straight basic hdds with different partitions. I am a
novice at this and would like to get some advise before attempting to
remove the RAID so I won't mess it up. I have backed up all data and the OS
on several other hard drives.

My computer has:
ASUS P5B-E motherboard
AMI 8/22/06 bios, ID=64-0201-000001-00101111-082206-Intel-BW-A0637000
4 hard disks

As best I can understand, to remove the matrix RAID, I will loose all data
on the RAID drives. To convert to a non-RAID configuration, the ASUS guide
only discusses several options under the JMB363 RAID BIOS menu. One is
"Delete RAID Disk Drive" and the other is "Revert HDD to Non-RAID". The
delete option only notes that all data will be lost when accepted. The
revert to non-RAID option just says that all data will be deleted.

I am not sure which option is the one I should use or if there is any
difference in the two. Some questions I have are:
1. Will I need to reformat the hard disks after or only need to
repartitiion?
2. Is using one of these options all I need do?
3. Won't I need to change the BIOS configure option to "IDE"? Should this
be done before changing the RAID BIOS menu?
4. Is this procedure the correct way to remove the Matrix RAID from the
computer?
5. Is there anything else I've missed or should be aware of or concerned
about relating to this?

I would appreciate some advise and words of wisdom before I take the steps.
Or if there is a web site with this kind of information, please tell me the
URL.

Thanks in advance,
Ray
