When all "911" type heck breaks loose, and you pull out your everyday carry
digicam, what mode will you use?
Groove on the video, or will you opt for the stills?
Certainly video mode will get much wider "play" on the media but which will
serve society better and should that be a concern?

I wouldn't. I would pull out the emergency medical kit and/or the cell phone
to call 911.

Help and assistance will serve society best. Even if it's just by giving
professional emergency respone teams the space they need to do their job.

BTW: in some countries it is a fellony if you don't render help in an
emergency if you could do so without putting yourself in danger.
