Hey guys ^_^
I use a Pavilionzv6000 /2.2ghz/100gb HD/1gb RAM/ATI 128, and I'm having a problem with its processor.
After about 10-15 of playing a PC game (I'll use counter strike source as my first example ), the game's frame rate drastically drops. I open task manager to pinpoint the problem, and It turns out the game itself is eating up all the processing power. It's wierd becuase it's the first time anything like this happened, so i change the game (I chose a far older game) and the same thing happens to it as well. Also, sometimes when firefox is open and there is a 30 minute long flash movie playing (youtube), flash player experiences the same drop in frame rate. I've been troubleshooting this issue for about a month now and no results. I even tried reinstalling the operating system, and the same thing still happens.
Your help is greatly appreciated, thanks. _________________ "When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth" |

You reinstalled the OS!?
Assuming you have Microsoft OS:
Anyway, make sure you have the most recent (like April 07) release of DirectX. You should also make sure that you have all critical Windows Updates.
How much RAM (in k) is that game using when it goes slowly (in TaskMan)?
If nothing else, it could have to do with the onboard graphics card memory. The sys requirements on the game might support 128, but it might need more to function at a decent frame rate.
Good luck.

OK..I double checked with Windows update to make sure I have all the necessary uptades, and I also installed the apr '07 directX update. I tested the computer again with the older game, which is really Roller coaster Tycoon 2, but alas, the same thing happens. While the game was playing, It had used up about 97,000kb of RAM.
One thing I did discover though...I was running my computer on its battery, and whats weird is that it gave me no problems while playing Counter Strike (this time I was playing Condition Zero). Im going to reboot my comp and play Counter Strike again while on the battery, Ill post my results then.
EDIT: 1 hr later...
It seems that the my comps adapter plays some sort of role here. I restarted my comp and played CS with the battery, and it seemed to working fine. Im going to make more tests to see what exactly is going on. Any suggestions are good too ^_^
