I wonder if anyone could tell me how to determine the number of shutter
activations on my camera. (I bought it used) and am curious. I understand
its in the exif data but I have tried various software but I am unable to
determine the number.

anyone have a way to determine the count, short of sending it into canon?

thanks.

use exif tool and look for the 'shutter count' field.

How do you know? I've used exiftool on many EOS bodies and it has
always been at least consistant.

What did exiftool say, and what is the `correct' value?

Mr ExifTool (6.86, WinXP) tells me, "SHUTTER COUNT 14"; that's off by a
couple thousand (5D). It's within a few for /session/ shutter count.

He shows no such statistic on a 20D nor on a 350XT. Maybe it's hidden in
some esoteric language with which I am not familiar. Or I'm just missing
it ...

Any hints?

Its not the shutter count, because the number is way too low and does not
increment properly. It may be the count of the pictures from the cf card..

Get a divorce and a copy of the REAL exiftool. Oh, you will also
need a working Perl.

Broken windows SW, what a suprise...
