Hi. So i found yall via google.. tried everything i could, so hears my problem!

Iv had my x800 pro for about 2 yrs. Up until 3 weeks ago, it ran perfect, no lag in game or anything of the sort. I play Counterstrike Source.

Well, about 3 weeks ago , i started getting lag, and now im running at 30fps average, sometimes less. before, i was receiving approximately 80-90 fps in game.

So iv tried reinstalling the card, switched from the current ati drivers to the omega drivers. ran ATI Tool, and when i test for max core, it goes for about 2 minutes, then blue screens me saying it was caught in an infinite loop, and had to shut down.

I just cant figure out what the problem is here, the card is about 2 yrs old, and ran great up until about 3 weeks ago. Can anyone help?

ty for future help or suggestions if any at all.. i really appreciate it.

Do you have another power supply you can try in your system? That would be
my starting point.

When you say you "reinstalled the card", what exactly do you mean? Did

you eliminate ALL traces of the previous and current graphics drivers
before you reinstalled the drivers? Do a search through the registry to
eliminate the drivers and not just write over some of the old files.

Normally, of course, it's not necessary to perform this search and
destroy mission; however, you have a special problem that needs special
attention.

The other thing of course is that you could try a system restore since
the problem only occurred in the past three weeks or so.

Good Luck

Why would a PS problem drop the frame rate?

Yeah, i tried the cleaning and i have a 500 watt power supply, so i know it isnt that.

So iv tried reinstalling the card, switched from the current ati drivers to the omega drivers. ran ATI Tool, and when i test for max core, it goes for about 2 minutes, then blue screens me saying it was caught in an infinite loop, and had to shut down.

i went into my device manager.. and found this. In the screen shot, the display adapter shows my card and drivers. but the properties box i opened for you to see, is from that yellow question mark and explanation point under it. It says its for a device on my vid card, but i just dont understand what the deal is... any ideas?

I have an X800 (GTO in my case) and it has an extra device which is to do
with the video/TV stuff it can do. If you only download and install the
drivers you miss this extra, either download the full package which also
inclused the Catalyst Control Center as well as the extra install for this.
I believe you can also download the video/TV stuff separately.

so i did a 3d mark 05 test, and it shows my card being fine. riva tuner shows it is not over heating while gaming. i think its only problem is when i play counterstrike source.

any other ideas of what might be going on? im half tempted to reformat, which is somthing i dont want to do, but might have to.
