I'm having a color problem in the game Black & White 2, under an ATI
X1600 video card. Some screens come out completely white. Other
screens have some proper colors but the menus come out completely
white. I've had this problem before, but I had it solved before too,
but I can't remember what I did. I've tried the various basic 3D
settings in Catalyst Control Centre, from Performance to Balanced to
Quality, none of it fixed this. I've also gone back to an older ATI
driver, to no avail; I was using the Catalyst 7.2 drivers, but then I
went back to Catalyst 6.8 drivers.

Here's the relevant system info:
CPU: Athlon XP 1900+
RAM: 1GB
Mobo: ECS K7S5A
Video: Sapphire Radeon X1600 w/ 512MB vidram
OS: Win XP SP2

Well, I figured out the solution to this. You simply remove the
Catalyst Control Centre and reboot and everything works! I have no
idea why removing setup utility fixes a problem, except that maybe
after it's gone, the drivers go entirely to default settings.

I wish I knew how to get this working with the CCC in place still, but
it looks like the CCC is more of a problem than it's worth.
