I have an old-as-the-hills cheapo Acer CD recorder which occasionally
tells me that OPC fails (with incompatible media).
OK, so do practically all CD and DVD recorders do an OPC prior to
writing? Do they always do this, or only if the ATIP code can't be
found in the firmware? If the recorder can find out the best LASER
setting by performing an OPC, what's the point of storing different
write strategies in the firmware?
And what does it mean if the OPC fails? That the LASER somehow can't
be cranked up (or down) enough for the dye on the respective blank?
I'm VERY confused about OPC -- please help! |
