I have recently acquired a new Dell PC with Windows XP.

I should like to transfer my Aries 4830P flatbed scanner from my old
Windows 95 PC to the new one.

So far I have:

Installed a PCI parallel card and tested it with an HP880C printer. No
problem.

Inserted the original software CD "Setup/Application CD ROM" and let it
Autoplay the setup software.

Having done this only the Recognita OCR software works (converting an
existing image file - but not reading from the Scanner).

Image-In fails with a message saying not correctly installed.

Done a Google search for 4830P which throws up lots of material but not
an obvious answer to my problem yet.

If any reader of this group has this scanner (or the Plustek equivalent)
running under XP then I should appreciate some help.

No driver for Windows XP.
http://www.plustek.com/support/download.asp

In the dropdown, look for OpticPro 4830P.

It is a discontinued scanner, no support available, and no drivers for
Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
You would be much better off if you bought a new USB scanner.
There are many good USB scanners for Windows XP than are inexpensive and
very easy to buy.

Many come bundled with OCR software, You may be able to use the OCR software
you have if you are willing to scan and save to an image that your current
software can use.
